Festuca subverticillata
Nodding Fescue is a very attractive, clump-forming native grass with forest-green foliage that would make a good groundcover. Its tolerance for medium to full shade makes it valuable in the garden; pair this with other woodland groundcovers like Large-leaved Aster or Golden Ragwort in a shady part of your yard.
As with many grasses, Nodding Fescue would make a good cover for wildlife; many birds also uses grasses in nest construction. This is a host plant to the Indian Skipper butterfly. Birds and small mammals likely feed on the seeds.
