Ratibida pinnata
A beautiful summer blooming perennial that has a similar appearance to Black Eyed Susans, but with large yellow ray flowers that droop slightly. This drought-tolerant and easy-to-grow plant is excellent for cultivation, as it is relatively pest-resistant and far less aggressive than some of its other yellow-blooming prairie cousins.
The flowers attract mainly bees, but also wasps, butterflies, flies, and beetles. A handful of butterfly and moth species use this as a host plant and songbirds may sometimes eat the seeds, particularly Goldfinches. Plant with Wild Bergamot or any Liatris spp. for a stunning color combination.
