This striking spring-blooming woodland wildflower makes an overall incredible plant for cultivation. Tall Thimbleweed will thrive in those difficult dry, shady areas of the yard and has a long bloom time. When planted in groups, this plant makes a valuable cover for wildlife. Deer and other mammalian herbivores avoid the plant because of a substance in the leaves that irritate their digestive tracts.

Showy, inch-wide 5-petaled white flowers sit atop sturdy, upright stems and draw in small bees and flies as pollinators. This plant will spread via rhizomes, but not aggressively so. Division of mature plants may be necessary, especially if flowering declines.
